On September 7, I’ll be celebrating three years alcohol-free. This decision has completely transformed my life, bringing me more joy, freedom, and clarity than I ever imagined possible. I want to share this journey with you because it represents a powerful shift in how I live, work, and connect with the world.
Looking back, I realize that alcohol was my mooring line—the thing that was subtly but significantly holding me back from reaching my full potential. I used alcohol as a crutch, something to lean on when things got tough or when I wanted to unwind. But over time, I began to realize something crucial: I’m strong and powerful and do not need a crutch in my life.
For me, alcohol was the mooring line, but it could be different things for others. Whether it’s fear, self-doubt, toxic relationships, or old habits, we all have something that holds us back and keeps us from fully stepping into our power. The key is recognizing what that is and having the courage to cut it loose.
I was away at a conference with my youngest daughter, Julia. When it hit me, I wanted to set a different example for her. I didn’t want her, my other daughter Olivia, or my newly born Granddaughter Zendaya to see alcohol as a necessary part of life, as something you turn to to cope or need to have fun. At that moment, I made the decision to stop drinking. It wasn’t a grand gesture or a dramatic vow but a quiet, firm commitment to myself of the life I wanted to create and the trail I wanted to blaze.
The Gains: Clarity, Confidence, and Presence
Since making the decision to cut my mooring line and stop drinking, I’ve gained so much. The first clear thing was how much more present I could be, especially in my relationships. Clarity and presence made a huge difference—my connections with others deepened because I was truly there, engaged, and fully aware. I am less distracted and no longer dulled or exaggerated, allowing me to show up as my best self, whether with my family, friends, or clients.
With more presence came more clarity. My vision for my life and my business became sharper. I found myself setting bigger, bolder goals because I finally believed in my ability to achieve them independently. My confidence soared as I realized I could face challenges head-on without dulling the edges or false bravado.
I Don’t Need a Crutch
When shit hit the fan in my business and marriage, being alcohol-free showed me just how strong and powerful I really am. I didn’t turn to alcohol to cope—I stood tall and faced everything head-on. And you know what? I never looked back. I realized that I don’t need a crutch. I have the strength to handle whatever comes my way, and that realization has been incredibly liberating.
Reclaiming My Power
Now that I’ve reclaimed my time and energy, I’m more committed than ever to helping others do the same. That’s why I’ve developed programs like Beyond Limits, my Shadow Work course, and the Time Efficiency Breakthrough Audit. These tools have been instrumental in my journey, and I’ve designed them to support others in breaking free from whatever might hold them back.
Final Thoughts
Three years ago, I made a decision that changed everything. I chose to let go of something holding me back, and in doing so, I opened up a world of possibility. If you’re feeling stuck or held back by something in your life, I encourage you to step back and ask yourself: Is this serving me? Is this helping me become the person I’m meant to be? If the answer is no, it may be time for your breakthrough moment.
Remember, you are powerful and don’t need anything propping you up. Embrace your journey, and know that I’m here to support you every step of the way.
With love, light, and prosperity,
