Our Inner World Shapes Our Reality

Aug 20, 2024

We don't get what we desire; we get what we embody. This simple phrase holds so much truth; I've witnessed it repeatedly. The energy we carry, the beliefs we hold, the actions we take, and the mindset we maintain all significantly impact what shows up in our lives.

Life as a Mirror: My Journey

There was a time when I didn't realize how much my inner world affected my outer reality. I was busy trying to prove myself, running full throttle to outrun my past. I was in constant overdrive, overachieving, and always focused on the next goal, the next win. Although my actions seemed to align with the life I desired, I wasn't looking inward, and because of that, I was deeply unfulfilled and not getting the joy and freedom I desired.

My drive, although powerful, was unsustainable, and eventually, it all came crashing down. My business, my world—it all blew up. I was left to face the reality that the way I was living and working wasn't aligned with who I truly was. My external success didn't match my internal state, and that disconnect finally caught up with me.

Making the Shift

The real change began when I decided to take responsibility for my inner world. Although I had a deep spiritual practice for over 20 years, my mindset was still primarily shaped by the extrinsic motivation of proving my worth. This mindset wasn't transforming me; it kept me stuck in survival mode, constantly striving but never truly thriving. I realized that if I wanted to see different results in my life, I began to change how I thought, felt, and acted.

I got to do the deep inner work, including Shadowwork, to shift my mindset and beliefs. Shadowwork helped me confront the parts of myself I had been avoiding—the fears, insecurities, and limiting beliefs driving my need to prove myself. Through this process, I began to heal and transform from the inside out.

In addition to Shadowwork, I turned to a combination of practices that helped me realign my inner world. Gratitude embodiment, Kundalini yoga, breathwork, meditation, and visualization. These practices played a crucial role in helping me reconnect with my true self, calm my mind, and elevate my energy to transcend.

I engage in these practices every morning, starting my day with a deep sense of connection and clarity. Kundalini yoga and breathwork release the stress and tension built up from earlier years of trauma, survival mode, and pushing myself too hard. Meditation allows me to center myself and find peace amidst the chaos. Visualization helps me see and feel the life I want to create, making it more tangible and real. Gratitude shifts my focus to what is going right in my life.

As I made these internal shifts, something incredible happened—I finally felt fully supported, loved, and connected to and by the universe. My external world began to reflect this newfound alignment. Opportunities aligned with my values and mindset began appearing, and my relationships became more supportive and fulfilling.

The Power of Self-Awareness

Self-awareness was a massive part of this process. It wasn't easy to look in the mirror and confront my fears and limiting beliefs, but it was necessary. This journey also revealed a significant people-pleasing pattern in my personal and professional life. I realized that my tendency to overextend myself—always trying to meet others' expectations—was rooted in a deeper self-worth issue.

This pattern influenced everything from the clients I attracted to the dynamics in my relationships. Once I recognized this, I knew I needed to make a change. I started noticing how I was constantly putting others' needs before mine, often at the expense of my well-being. This awareness allowed me to set clearer boundaries and value my time and energy more.

As I started to shift away from people-pleasing and focused more on honoring my own needs, I saw a remarkable improvement in the quality of my interactions. The clients I attracted aligned more with my values, and my personal relationships grew stronger and more balanced.

Living the Full Human Experience

To me, living the full human experience means being all in—embracing who we are, what we're capable of, and what truly matters. We no longer let the external noise dictate how we live and create a life aligned with our true selves.

When we stop wasting energy on what doesn't serve us, we create space for what matters. We become more creative, connected, and fulfilled. Our relationships deepen, our work becomes more meaningful, and life feels richer.

We don't get what we desire; we get what we embody.

If there's one thing I've learned, life doesn't give us what we want; it gives us what we embody. If you want more abundance, love, or success, you have to become the person who naturally attracts those things. I am not saying to change who you are; it's about becoming more of who you are—living your truth, embodying your values, and showing up as the best version of yourself. Becoming whole.

This expression, we don't get what we desire; we get what we embody is a powerful reminder to take responsibility for our lives. It's about looking inward, getting honest with ourselves, and ensuring our inner world and daily actions align with the life we want to create. When we do that, we start to see the changes we've been working for, not just in our lives but in the world around us.

So, ask yourself: What are you putting out into the world? And is it in line with the life you truly want to live?
